Email, SMS and WhatsApp Inside Your Social Dashboard — Why Channels Belong Together

· 5 min read

You use one tool for social media scheduling. Another for email campaigns. A third for SMS. A fourth for WhatsApp. Each has its own login, its own contact list, its own templates, its own billing. You are essentially running four separate communication departments from four separate dashboards — for one audience.

The word for this is not "multi-channel." It is "fragmented." And fragmentation costs you time, money, and the ability to see how your customers actually interact with your brand.

The Problem With Separate Messaging Tools

When email, SMS and WhatsApp live in separate tools from your social publishing, three things break:

Contacts Are Duplicated and Unsynchronized

Your email tool has 5,000 contacts. Your WhatsApp provider has 3,000. Your SMS tool has 2,500. Overlap? Nobody knows. A customer who opted out of SMS in one tool is still receiving WhatsApp broadcasts from another because the consent systems don't talk to each other.

Templates Are Siloed

You built a beautiful promotional email template. Now you need the same offer as a WhatsApp template and an SMS. You rewrite it from scratch in each tool — different formatting, different variable systems, different approval processes. The messaging is supposed to be consistent, but the infrastructure makes consistency an uphill battle.

Reporting Is Impossible

Which channel drove the most conversions this month? To answer that, you need to export data from four tools, normalize the metrics, and build a comparison in a spreadsheet. Most teams never do this. They just keep spending equally on every channel and hope for the best.

What "Channels Belong Together" Looks Like

In LigiComms, email, SMS and WhatsApp are not add-ons bolted onto a social media scheduler. They are built into the same platform, sharing the same architecture:

  • One contact list. A customer who signed up via Instagram, messaged on WhatsApp, and received an email confirmation exists as one contact in the CRM. Tags, lead scores, consent status, interaction history — all in one place.
  • One template library. Email, WhatsApp and SMS templates are managed on a single templates page, organized by channel, with preview, variable extraction, and approval status tracking.
  • One send log. Every message sent — email, SMS, WhatsApp — appears in a unified log. Filter by channel, by date, by status. See delivery rates, failures, and opens without switching tools.
  • One credits wallet. WhatsApp messages and SMS messages are paid from the same credit wallet. No separate billing accounts. No surprise invoices from a provider you forgot about.
  • One inbox. Replies to WhatsApp broadcasts appear in the Sociobox inbox, alongside Messenger DMs and Instagram messages. Your team handles everything from one screen.

Omnichannel is not about being on every channel. It is about being connected across every channel — so a customer's experience is seamless regardless of how they reach you.

Email: Per-Tenant SMTP, Not a Shared Sender

LigiComms does not send emails from a shared domain. Each tenant configures their own SMTP credentials — Gmail, Microsoft 365, Zoho, Yahoo, or a custom SMTP server. Provider presets auto-fill the host and port. Credentials are AES-encrypted at rest.

This means your emails come from your domain, with your sender reputation. Deliverability is yours to build, not dependent on a shared infrastructure that could be blacklisted by someone else's behavior.

Email templates use named placeholders ({firstName}, {orderNumber}) with a visual preview in a sandboxed iframe. No coding required — write the template, insert variables, preview, send.

SMS: DLT-Compliant for India

If your business operates in India, SMS sends are regulated by TRAI's DLT framework. That means registered entities, sender headers (sender IDs), and pre-approved templates with DLT template IDs. LigiComms includes the full DLT management workflow:

  • Entity registration — create and manage DLT entities within the platform.
  • Sender headers — register and manage sender IDs per entity.
  • Template management — create templates, record their DLT template ID, and track approval status. Only approved templates can be sent.

The DLT wizard only appears for Indian SMS providers. If you use an international provider, you get a simpler interface without the regulatory overhead.

Two SMS providers are supported as strategies: one for India-focused delivery and one for global reach. Each uses its own credentials, configured per tenant. The pricing is transparent — per-message cost at the provider's own rate, visible on the rate card.

WhatsApp: Your Own Number, Your Own WABA

WhatsApp in LigiComms is not a shared sender or a third-party reseller. Each tenant connects their own WhatsApp Business number via Meta's Embedded Signup and gets their own WABA (WhatsApp Business Account). Every send, every template submission, every reply runs on the tenant's own credentials.

The WhatsApp integration covers template management (with rich formats — headers, buttons, carousels, coupon codes), broadcast sending, auto-reply with AI fallback, and a live inbox with 24-hour session window awareness.

Template Approval: Channel-Specific, Strategy-Based

Each messaging channel has its own approval logic, handled by a strategy pattern — no switch statements, no if-else chains:

  • Email — instant. No external approval needed. Write, preview, send.
  • SMS — attested. Approval happens on the telecom operator's DLT portal. You record the approved template ID in LigiComms and it gates sending.
  • WhatsApp — submitted to Meta. Draft → Pending → Approved/Rejected. Status syncs via webhook. The template guide walks through the full process.

In every case, only approved templates can be sent. The platform enforces this — you can't accidentally blast 10,000 contacts with a template that Meta hasn't approved or that TRAI hasn't registered.

Campaigns That Span Channels

When contacts, templates and send logs live in one platform, campaigns become genuinely multi-channel. Tag a customer segment, send a WhatsApp template announcement, follow up with an email two days later, and send an SMS reminder on the morning of the event — all from the same dashboard, the same contact list, with the same consent controls.

No CSV exports. No API integrations. No "the email tool says they opted out but the SMS tool says they didn't." One source of truth for consent. One log for every touchpoint.

Why This Matters More Than You Think

Social media is where you build awareness. Messaging is where you close deals. The two are not separate activities — they are stages of the same customer journey. A prospect sees your Instagram post, follows you, DMs you a question, signs up for your newsletter, receives a WhatsApp confirmation, and gets an SMS reminder before their appointment.

If those seven touchpoints live in four different tools, the journey is fragmented. If they live in one platform — social publishing, CRM, email, SMS, WhatsApp, inbox — the journey is seamless. And a seamless journey converts better.

The channels belong together because the customer is one person, no matter which channel they use. Your tools should reflect that.
